Aubusson rugs belong to antique rugs. The tradition of Aubusson rugs manufacturing dates back to the 17th century. These rugs originate from a small town in the Cruse Valley, France. Manufacturing of beautiful rugs was organized there many years ago. Aubusson rugs have an interesting twist – a fine, formal style.
Since the 17th century, they have been adored as one of the greatest carpets in the world. Convenient with fine antique furnishings, these antique rugs have a delicate coloration and a strong Parisian architectural motive. Such rugs have no pile and are woven with a traditional thick-thread tapestry weave.
French rugs were made during the 17th - 19th centuries. They are very elegant and formal. Usually, antique rugs represented flat woven rugs. Normally, they were made in pastel colors, with thick pile. Antique rugs were manufactured, using very difficult, accurate technique, with mathematical precision.
Any rug, or even a fragment of a rug, made in the 17th, 18th, or 19th centuries, is extremely valuable. Since many of antique rugs were woven for wealthy people, they were made in larger sizes to accommodate larger rooms. |
