Indian Rugs

When you want something special from your future rugs turn to the modern rugs collections. Simple and sophisticated, joyful and reserved in colors modern rugs will appeal to customers' audience of any age or occupation. Modern rugs are designed not to fall behind the modern rush of time.

There are different Indian tribes, so called native Americans. They have become famous because of their craftsmen who weave beautiful Indian rugs. The tradition of the Indian rugs weaving dates back at least three hundred years. The Indians settled in the American continent about five thousands years ago.

Some Indian tribes were not fallen under influence of the Europeans who have begun invading the American continent since 1492. The Indians went to the canyons and added herding to their farming existence. Then, the Indians were restricted within geographic boundary lines, called reservations.

But nevertheless they kept on weaving the Indian rugs. As a matter of fact their economy was supported only by export of the Indian rugs. The market for the Indian rugs boomed in the early 1900’s as automobiles replaced wagons and tourism exploded in America. Trading posts have become very important retail outlets for sought-after commodity.

Trading post owners introduced commercial dyes and yarns to the Indian rugs, making their weaving much less time-consuming.
